I’m currently working on a major new version of the datatool package. This may take a while. Please be patient. (Experimental version available for testing.)

Version 1.41
Summary acronym/acronyms package option interferes with abbreviation styles

Description

The acronym & acronyms package options are picked up by the base glossaries package, which automatically triggers \SetDefaultAcronymDisplayStyle. This command changes the entry formatting for the given glossary type to deal with the base acronym styles and so conflicts with the new entry formatting of the extension package which interfaces with the abbreviation styles.

The MWE results in the footnote marker appearing before the inserted text rather than afterwards. Without the acronyms package option, the abbreviation style functions correctly.

% arara: pdflatex
\documentclass{article}

\usepackage[colorlinks,plainpages=false]{hyperref}
\usepackage[acronyms]{glossaries-extra}

\makeglossaries

\setabbreviationstyle[acronym]{short-sc-footnote}

\newacronym{ksvm}{ksvm}{kernel support vector machine}

\begin{document}
Possessive: \gls{ksvm}['s].
\end{document}

Evaluation

Fixed in glossaries-extra v1.42.
