Description
The datetime2 package fails when compiling with LuaLaTeX in DVI mode (lualatex --output-format=dvi
). The error message is:
! unexpected use of \pdffeedback
The same error message occurs with direct use of the \pdffeedback
primitive to obtain the PDF creation date:
\documentclass{article} \begin{document} Date: \pdffeedback creationdate \end{document}It seems that
creationdate
isn't supported by \pdffeedback with the dvi output format.
A stopgap solution is to first load the luatex85 package before datetime2:
\documentclass{article} \usepackage{luatex85} \usepackage{datetime2} \begin{document} \today \end{document}(Note that the reason this works is because luatex85 defines
\pdfcreationdate
and datetime2 tests for the existence of that command before attempting to use \pdffeedback
.)
The next version will switch to the newer LaTeX3 functions to avoid the use of format-dependent primitives.
