I’m currently working on a major new version of the datatool package. This may take a while. Please be patient. (Experimental version available for testing.)

Description

Hi,
first I want to thank you for all your work on glossaries (and all other packages).

In media res:
Using plurals of acronyms does not work for me. The defined shortplural will only be used at first use of the acronym or never.

MWE

Download (1.23K)

\documentclass[10pt,a4paper]{article}
\usepackage[landscape]{geometry}
\usepackage{glossaries}

\newglossaryentry{potato}{
	name={potato},
	plural={potatoes},
	description={starchy tuber}}
\newacronym[longplural=longplural1, shortplural=shortplural1]{key1}{shortform1}{longform1}
\newacronym[longplural=longplural2, shortplural=shortplural2]{key2}{shortform2}{longform2}

\begin{document}

\makeglossaries
\printglossaries

Using plural of acronymentries multiple times \emph{does not} work fine.\\
For example:\\
Using plural twice: All \glspl{key1} are \emph{\glspl{key1}}.(What I get.)\\
Using plural twice: All longplural1 (shortplural1) are \emph{shortplural1}.(What I expect.)\\
Using singular twice: A \gls{key1} is a \gls{key1}.\\

Using plural of acronymentries multiple times the other way round (singular first, then plural) \emph{does not} work fine either.\\
For example:\\
Using singular twice: A \gls{key2} is a \gls{key2}.\\
Using plural twice: All \glspl{key2} are \emph{\glspl{key2}}.(What I get.)\\
Using plural twice: All shortplural2 are \emph{shortplural2}.(What I expect.)\\

Using the plural of glossaryentries mulitple times works fine.\\
For example:\\
Using plural twice: All \glspl{potato} are \glspl{potato}.\\

\end{document}

Evaluation

(BTW you need to move \makeglossaries to the preamble.) With the current version of glossaries (v4.11) I get the following:

   Using plural of acronymentries multiple times does not work fine.
For example:
Using plural twice: All longplural1 (shortplural1) are shortplural1.(What I get.)
Using plural twice: All longplural1 (shortplural1) are shortplural1.(What I expect.)
Using singular twice: A shortform1 is a shortform1.

   Using plural of acronymentries multiple times the other way round (singular first, then plural) does not work fine either.
For example:
Using singular twice: A longform2 (shortform2) is a shortform2.
Using plural twice: All shortplural2 are shortplural2.(What I get.)
Using plural twice: All shortplural2 are shortplural2.(What I expect.)

   Using the plural of glossaryentries mulitple times works fine.
For example:
Using plural twice: All potatoes are potatoes.
It may be that you need to upgrade to the latest version.

Hi,

1) thank you for your quick evaluation.
2) I'm happy to hear that the reported issue is fixed with v4.11

All the best & thanks again for your dedication,

Benni

PS: Thank you for the preamble-hint. I accidentially moved it to the document area when making a MWE.
